Learn with us – Free acoustics apps for education
The problems of noise pollution and noise management gain more and more attention among public, including people who never received proper education in this field. Answering to this need, we would like to present a few educational tools, created by our Partners from different countries. These are interactive applications dedicated for those, who would like to learn more about the world of sound and explore different kinds of acoustic phenomena. All you need is a computer or a mobile device with the Internet access. Enjoy!
ITApp – Interactive Teaching in Acoustics by the Institute of Technical Acoustics, RWTH Aachen University : http://gershwin.akustik.rwth-aachen.de/ITApp/
It’s a web application presenting different acoustic phenomena – you can manipulate with the sound effects and sound characteristics to hear some of the acoustics effects, such as binaural synthesis and auditory masking with your own ears.
Choose the phenomenon you would like to investigate and click on the Information button in top right corner to display more info about it and the way you can manipulate with the described sound effect.

Open-Access Interactive Acoustics-Application created by the Chair of Vibroacoustics of Vehicles and Machines at the TU München: http://www.apps.vib.mw.tum.de/app-lib
Similarly to the previous one, it is a web application that contains a library of popular acoustic effects. Choose from the variety of presented phenomena by clicking “Run in browser” button to run the animation. When it’s loaded, you can manipulate with geometrical dimensions and physical settings to see how they influence the given phenomenon overall. If you need more information or context, you can double click the icon of selected phenomena to see the brief description of the effect.
