David Owen on the dangers caused by noise pollution

World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that noise pollution is second the most important factor (after air pollution) affecting human well-being in the negative way and causing health problems in Western Europe nowadays. The issue of noise pollution can’t be ignored any more. More and more authors raise this issue and try to draw the attention of the public to this problem and try to make people aware of potential long-term consequences of this danger.

One of such authors is David Owen. In his article in New Yorker (https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2019/05/13/is-noise-pollution-the-next-big-public-health-crisis), Owen explains negative consequences of excessive noise level that we experience on the example of Western Europe. Such consequences may involve difficulties in learning, susceptibility to chronic diseases, high stress level and even shortened life expectancy.

As a conclusion, Owen suggests that monitoring sound level in cities should become common practice nowadays.
